Built by local government people, not generic software vendors.
OurGov exists because cities, community services districts, and utilities deserve software that actually understands how public agencies work — from backflow and sewer inspections to HR, EOC, and resident outreach.
Why we started OurGov
OurGov is focused on one thing: making it easier for local government teams to do their jobs, serve residents, and work together across departments without fighting fragmented systems.
Our Mission
To modernize local governance, foster trust, and enhance the quality of public services through technology and AI-driven innovation — without losing sight of the real people doing the work on the ground.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every resident can seamlessly engage with their local government, where data informs decisions, and where technology bridges gaps — creating more resilient, vibrant, and informed communities.
Our Story
OurGov was founded on the belief that communities deserve accessible, transparent, and efficient governance. For years, local agencies have been forced to adapt private-sector software that was never truly built for cities, water districts, or public works.
With backgrounds in public administration, utilities, compliance, and technology, we set out to build something different: an app platform where backflow, pretreatment, sewer asset management, HR/timecards, EOC, and outreach all share a common language, a common EntityID, and a shared AI layer.
Today, OurGov is an evolving ecosystem of tools, partner agencies, and innovators working together to shape the future of local governance — one city, CSD, and utility at a time.
Meet the founder
As the Founder and President of OurGov, Ian J. Timmons brings hands-on experience from the world of local government — including wastewater, utilities, and field operations — combined with a deep background in AI and software architecture.
After years of working inside public agencies and seeing staff struggle with disjointed, vendor-centric systems, Ian started OurGov with a simple idea: software for local government should be built with local government, not just sold to it.
Under his leadership, OurGov continues to pioneer new approaches to compliance, assets, HR, emergency operations, and resident analytics — always grounded in the reality of crews in the field, supervisors managing risk, and executives accountable to boards, councils, and the public.
